Saturday Show & Tell

Hey team! Happy May long!
I plan on brunching with my gals and heading to the lake!
Just a couple of wee links for your Saturday!

Love is awesome and so are these proposals!

Hyperbole and a half is back! And she's talking about the Big D... Depression. I read this at work and started crying because often that's pretty much how I feel. And to people who have never experienced depression it's so easy to say "just look on the bright side". This is so important to talk about and to not feel ashamed about. This is reality.

These people live and work in a landfill and have found a way to make musical instruments out of rubbish. And they are amazing. It fills up my heart.

I've lived in London and reading this list made me have a physical yearning for that city that I love. I had no job, no money, and only 1.5 friends so it wasn't an easy time but that city is one of my heart homes...

I love you and I'm not afraid

Sometimes I like to have a base that is monochromatic, with a bit of texture.

may 2 2013

Then splash on colour with shoes, blazers and necklace...
And then walk home unexpectedly in this get up. Looks pretty. Not great for exercise, really.

blazer & skirt: Rickis
top: Joe Fresh
tights: ?
shoes: Red or Dead Maxa
necklace: beach in Vietnam

(There must have been a strong wind inside this day. I'm always leaning to the same side!)

Today I'm thankful for the ability to walk home. I really enjoy it and love being about to be in my head and in my body at the same time as being outside. It's such a good way to connect to the city that you're in.

Blinding

When I wear something a little bit out there (for instance, this much colour) the ladies at work just say "Oh! You have a funky sense of style!"

apr 25 2013

So, all in all, working for "The Man" hasn't yet changed my style... I hope.

dress: from Ireland
top: Joe Fresh
tights: We Love Colours
shoes: Fly London
necklace: from England
earrings: gift, from Spain

Today I'm grateful I bought this dress in 2006 in Ireland. I mostly got it as a joke because the colours were too much. But I love it now and get so much wear out of it. Sometimes you just have to take a chance!

And a dancing outtake just for you!

The final walk

Today I had the sad business of going to a funeral. It's very sad and scary when you friends parents start to die. It's also nice to be able to celebrate the life of a good man with old friends and many people who loved him and his family.

apr 24 2013

This was a Jewish funeral and I'd never been to one before. It was very simple and beautiful. My friend and her brother got up and spoke about their dad. They did such a wonderful job. I don't know how they kept it together. After the ceremony we accompanied the family to the burial plot. It was really nice the way the rabbi said that we were walking along with her dad on his final journey. After a few words the family and friends were invited to place 3 shovelfuls of earth onto the casket. It was so final but there was something so right about being returned to the earth...

dress: Joe Fresh
belt: from Cambodia
necklace: gift, from Spain
leggings: Lulu Lemon
boots: Bed Stu

Today I am thankful for family and friends and the cycle of life.

I'm what's the pointing lately. The answer to pretty much every question is what's the point?
Tell me, is there ever a time when you don't feel like a failure?

The wrong turn

This dress came in the mail about a month ago. But, of course, instead of going with Canada Post, the cheaper and more convenient option, it was by courier. Which meant that as I wasn't at home to accept it I had to drive to the other side of the city during business hours. And pay a hidden shipping cost.

apr23 2013

And, because I'm sometimes dumb, I made a wrong turn and ended up doing a small prairie tour in the middle of blizzard weather warning.

I like the dress well enough. It's a great fabric, the colour is nice, really comfy and it has pockets. But what I don't like is the drapey thing at the front. I think it's meant to be a pleated but it just sort of hangs there weirdly. I need to iron it back into shape but, honestly, it's unlikely to happen.

blazer: Ricki's
dress: eShakti
leggings: Joe Fresh
shoes: Hard Hearted Harlot
necklace: shop in Madrid

Today I'm thankful for winter tires on unexpected road trips to pick up pretty things.

Life lately

I'm sort of out of the blogging habit.

This is what I have today: life according to the warm, fuzzy glow of Instagram!

Enjoying the first patio of the season. Finally!

First Farmer's Market of the year! Bought all the fixings for an amazing dinner!

Just a small chestal photo of a bit of glitter

Dinner: Fish, spinach, asparagus, guacamole

At my favourite coffee shop

First bare legs after heaps and heaps of snow

Forgot my shoes when I went to the gym. I was so determined to work out, that I bought these ugly bowling shoes!
