Show & Tell

I just spent multiple hours exploring Atlas Obscura! The world is a magical place and I can't wait to go on more adventures and see everything!

As someone who likes travelling this last year has been rough. I went to one city two hours away. That's all. Coming back from a long term journey means that you have no money. And it's like building up your life all over again. Now that I have a stable lovely life all I can think about is adventure. I've been to Santorini and  want to go to all these places: Charming places to see before you die.

I always thought I'd be great at something someday. Someday is fast approaching and it turns out that I'm just pretty good at a lot of things, not great. Here's a cheatsheet for mastery.

This is a fascinating look into autism and how a family was able to communicate with their son through Disney movies.

Flame on crazy diamond

My friends like theme birthday parties. This time it was Olympic theme. There were organized games and everything!

I went as the Olympic flame. That way they couldn't start the party without me.

So this skirt. I stalked it for months but it was $50. I bought it on sale for $15 but it was too big and it nearly fell down walking up the stairs to work. So I bought the smaller size for $5!! BARGAIN!!!

Today I'm thankful for awesome friends who like silly things.

Relationship with trends

A couple of weeks ago I walked down the block to get my 5 year old glasses adjusted. I just wanted them to be comfortable. I have no intention or interest in getting new glasses.

Mar 10, 2014

Twenty minutes later I had parted with a fair chunk of my wage and had new glasses on the way. That is some good saleswomening!

I hoping they give me "Sexy Librarian" as that is my spectacles dream!

Today I'm thankful for courage. Sometimes trying trends that are purported to be only for waifs is intimidating for the rest of us.

You're the boss

When I have big hair I feel like I'm in charge of my own life.

And when I can have wedding hair at work? Well that's a cause for celebration!

Just a matter of perspective

Stripes and spots are pretty much the best.

I pinned this from H & K Style Journey. Which is pretty awesome considering I'm linking up to their blog for Pinned It & Did It! YAY!

I didn't have a bag to pull it all together so I used brown jewelry.

Watching you

Sometimes I have a dream about an outfit.

mar 1 2014

This was one of those dreams. This one worked out but other times I end up looking a little like a hobo.

Today I'm thankful for rising temperatures and getting the chance to find out that my boots are not in the least waterproof.

Just still

I'm trying to be on austerity measures lately. I want to save money for trips and experiences rather than things. So I'm wearing all my clothes that I've had for years.

feb 2013 4

I've had this dress since about 2008. I still love it. But it's rather short so I wear another skirt underneath.

A story about a nearly free skirt

Once upon a time I bought a skirt for a penny. Maybe I've told this story before.

Many years ago (8? 10?) I was eyeing up this skirt for months. But $50 seemed like too much to pay. When I finally spied it on the $10 rack my heart was all aflutter. When it rang up as $0.01, I had to ask them to look into it. I couldn't scam my favourite store!

feb 2013 3

The manager checked it out and said it was probably a mistake but if that's what it rang up as, that was the price! HUZZAH! And thus, I can never get rid of it.

Sorry about the pained look on my face in these photos. I was on week 3 of a continuous headache. Not great friends.

Today I'm thankful for super strong headache pills and having them be covered by healthcare.

Glow

I don't believe in summer and winter clothes. I believe in making your wardrobe work for you no matter what.

feb 2013 1

This is a very summer dress but I like how it brightens up a winters day. I got a few compliments as well!

Today I'm thankful for something bright in these dark days. Also, I sometimes wish I was a bear and could unapologetically hibernate.

What happens in...

I'm going to Vegas in a couple of months with two ladyfriends. I'm pretty excited as I've never been. I have exactly 3 goals for this trip.
1) spend some time lolling by a pool
2) watch people
3) almost exclusively wear all the sequins

These pieces will most certainly be in frequent rotation.

Yes. I think these will work quite nicely.
