Stripy Dots

Today is a blustery day. It snowed (again!) overnight and the wind is whipping it everywhere. I nearly got pushed over!

Due to roadtrip shenanigans we missed trivia last week and our team sadly sunk into second place. So tonight we've got to live up to our motto of Being Awesomely Consistant (and consistantly awesome).

cardigan: Ricki's ages ago
dress/tunic thing: Uttam London from a shop called the Crooked House
black skirt: Ricki's
leggings: Joe Fresh
OTK boots: Steve Madden

Today's picture is taken by the Gentleman Caller, thus there is only one since the others were of my being a tiger and a lemur.

Today I am thankful for scarves, hats, and gloves but most importantly for quick reflexes to grab my hat as it tries to fly away!

And now for my second trick: FBFF

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed?
I think that I'm more objective about what I actully look like. I think
before I'd have a look in the mirror and only see parts of myself. I think
that I would segment myself... In a "face is ok but sugar belly has got to
go" kinda way. I feel that now I'm able to take a step back and see my body
and my self for what I look like as a whole. And really? It's not as bad as
I would have thought long ago...

2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you
go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway?
I'm of the opinion that real is better even when real is not that great. So
I'm not too self-conscious, I don't think, but I think I'd be more likely to
talk about it because it is just the way it is and it's better to acknowledge
something than it pretend it doesn't exist.

3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future
holds in the evolution of your body image?
I think (I hope) that I will feel more and more comfortable in my own skin
everyday. I hope that this attitude is something I can pass to family and
friends as well. There are always struggles and good days and bad days but I
hope that the good with outweigh the bad.

4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel
about the experience when you're having your picture taken? If you
choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision?
I do photograph myself nearly everyday (usually I don't do weekends unless
I'm actually doing something or going somewhere). I always pick the best
pictures or the ones that show my personality the best. I don't post the
pictures where I have a quadruple chin or if the angle is really
unflattering. But I have posted outfits that I didn't feel the greatest in
and didn't look the best it because real is better. And in the end, when I
get old I'd ike to have this diary to look back on. So it would be nice if
it was an honest representation of a small slice of my life.

5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to
take to heart?
Oh gosh. I think this is so hard for so many people. We live in a world
that tries to tell us that we must always be striving for something better.
But I would like everyone to know that they are enough. The very fact that
they are alive makes them beautiful. And everything you do is enough. And
that beauty is made of many many many factors and a good heart is the
biggest one.

Fashion Beauty Friend Friday group is organized by Katy at ModlyChic and is a way for fashion bloggers to share more about themselves and learn about each other. Nice, right?

PS Did you know that governments across some provinces in Canada realized that it was too long to go from Jan - whenever without a holiday to break up the monotony of nearly freezing to death. So they created a day off called Family Day! Which is awesome and means that it's a 3 days weekend!

Gees, I have to say that I love your style. Each time I open up your blog something new and exciting pops up. You look amazing!

Have a great weekend!
Why did you not post the lemur or the tiger?!?! These are things the world needs to see!

We ALSO have a 3-day weekend down here, but we're celebrating Presidents' Day.

What's your trivia team's name? Ours is "The Joneses" because everyone else has to keep up with us! Good luck tonight, but I suspect you'll rock it as your outfit is already consistently awesome!
Ha! Oh... Well I didn't post them mostly because they were really blurry as I'm was moving pretty fast (you know lemurs and how they scamper about!). Our trivia name is Two Tall Broads. Because when we first started there were only 2 of us girls. The trivia dudes consistantly make fun of us because really I'm not that tall... I just like to wear heels!

I love the bold black and whites mixed together! That is awesome about the holiday, it's President's Day here on Monday, so I get a 3 day weekend too! Wahoo!

p.s. you do seem to be smiling exceptionally large today, so it makes sense that the photo was taken by the gentleman caller!

Good ole' family day! I'm looking forward to the three day weekend, that's for sure.
I totally hear you on answer to question number 1 - I would do the exact thing. Focus on the pieces instead of the whole picture.
You are rocking the stripes and polka dots!
LOVE! the mixed patterns! I am a fan of both polka dots and stripes. and when you wear them together, you're unstoppable!

This pattern mixing is genius! Seriously, I would never be able to pull this outfit off but your look fantastic in it! And you know I'm a fan of those boots!
Wow! Have to say this is one of my favourite outfits on you! Even though they say stripes shouldn't go with dots but somehow that is definitely NOT true for you! You look fantastic and whimsical!
