Growing out after about 4 months in England without a cut

1. How often do you get your hair cut?
Not as often as I should. I love getting it cut. I love the whole experience from the washing and drying to walking out with a new look and smoothy smooth hair! But because it is expensive and I am trying to save money for The Big Trip I only go when I look at myself in the mirror and realize that it's become a lion's mane! (then I just try to make it bigger and fluffier to pretend that it's on purpose). Then I make an appointment as soon as I can. I'm going in about a week and I can't wait. My last cut was on Valentine's day!

2. Do you go to the same stylist each time, try someone new, go to the cheap hair cutting chains or live it up in a salon?
Oh mercy. So for years I had this amazing stylist. I trusted her completely. I would go to her and say "I want to be flirty and fun" and she would cut and colour my hair to give me the feeling that I was after. I went there for so long with such amazing results that I forgot that not all stylists would be the same. I was living in England and was quite poor. I met a dude in a bar who said that he was in hair school and that I could have a free haircut! FREE! Just what a broke girl in a different country needs to hear! I went there and told him that I just wanted a trim because I was growing it out. He looked at me and said "Darling, long hair is boring". The last thing that I want to be is boring! So I let him cut a little. At first it seemed to be going really well. It was all swoopy and longer in the front and kinda sexy. Then he snipped off the long bits and shaved my neck!
Oh God! It's the worst!

I was devastated! I couldn't even say thank you or tip him or anything. I ran out of the salon and cried in the bathroom. Do you know how dogs are all ashamed when you shave them? Yeah, that was me for a few months until it became a horrible mushroom-shaped mop on my head. I was too afraid to go to anyone I didn't know.
Now that I'm back home I go to the salon owned by my former stylist. I don't go to see her anymore though because after she got back from maternity leave she was too busy for me to get in. My stylist now has cotton candy pink hair. So that makes me trust her!

3. Do you color your hair? How often? What¹s your natural color?
No way! Pink is totally natural!! My real hair is brownish... sort of. I've been blonde for a couple of years now. I kind of want to go back to dark but to make it blonde it took 5 hours, 250 foils and a boatload of money. I can afford the upkeep but if I go dark I'll never be able to afford to go blonde again. Again I only colour it when it gets noticeably rooty.
Going blonde

4. The one thing you always do to keep your hair looking great is:
Loads of conditioner, rinse in cold water, rarely ever use heat (I don't even own a hair dryer, but that could be laziness), and a leave in smoother.

5. What hair trend do you love and wish you could rock?
I wish I could go super pixie short! But after the disaster where I looked like a boy I'm too afraid, plus the growing out process lasts forever. I also wish I could learn how to french braid my own hair into something pretty.

wow! i love all the pictures of all your different hair styles! I really must say, the short haircut really suits you! especially in that darker shade! I don't think it looks boyish at all, however, I do know the feeling of growing one's hair out--and it's not a good one!

Awkward hair cuts are the worst! Just before the start of grade 8, my mom made me an appointment to get my hair cut. I decided I wanted to go short. However, our usual stylist was suddenly called away, so I agreed to go with another girl in the salon. The whole time she kept telling me how much she would love this haircut if someone gave it to her, so I thought she must know what she was doing. However, I walked out... with a mullet. Of course, my mother refused to pay for another haircut, so the awkward and dated look lives in infamy in my grade 8 year book.

I keep forgetting you used to have darker hair, I loved the shoulder length dark hair with beautiful waves in it. You are always gorgeous and beautiful anyways, no work necessary...right?
